The Luxembourg Ministry of Finance has used the HSBC Orion DLT platform to issue 50 million euros of digital government bonds. The bonds will be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange using zero coupon notes, sold at a 99.03% discount to face value, but redeemable at face value after six months.
This is the second European country to issue bonds using DLT technology, following Slovenia's issuance of 30 million Eurobonds last July. One of the biggest advantages of DLT is its faster and more efficient issuance, which makes it possible to reduce costs while also increasing transparency.
