In a series of strikes against Iran last week, Israel also issued a series of dire warnings about the country's nuclear program, according to CNN, suggesting that Iran was rapidly approaching a point of no return in its pursuit of nuclear weapons, and that strikes were necessary to prevent such an outcome. But according to four people familiar with the matter, the U.S. intelligence assessment reached a different conclusion - not only is Iran not actively seeking to build a nuclear weapon, but it is still three years away from being able to produce one and deliver it to a target of its choosing. Despite days of Israeli airstrikes, U.S. intelligence officials now believe that Israel may have set back Iran's nuclear program by at most a few months, according to a U.S. official. Although Israel caused significant damage to Iran's nuclear facility at Natanz, another fortified uranium enrichment site at Fordo was not actually affected.
