Bitcoin Developers Propose "Excommunication" for OP_RETURN "Garbage People"
2025-06-14 01:48:41
On June 14th news, Bitcoin developer Peter Todd is working on an unusual form of punishment for people who oppose his upcoming changes to the Bitcoin network. Todd insists that the default memory pool of Bitcoin Core should be able to hold a large amount of enterprise data storage and information unrelated to movement on the Bitcoin (BTC) chain. However, people who do not like the accommodation of enterprise data storage by Todd's Libre Relay have created so-called "garbage man" software to punish Libre Relay node operators who spread such big transactions. Todd is working on counter measures to protect his software. He wants Bitcoin node operators to be able to disconnect from "garbage man" nodes and, through complex mathematics and code, reliably estimate whether a node is running such a "garbage man" attack.
