The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) announced four senior appointments on June 13, including Jamie Selway as Director of Trading and Markets effective June 17, and Brian Daly as Director of Investment Management on July 8. Both new officials have experience in the digital asset sector. Selway previously served as Head of Institutional Markets for Blockchain Companies, and Daly focused on cryptocurrency and blockchain legal matters during his time at Eakingamp Law Firm.
The reshuffle is a continuation of the "crypto-friendly" policy pursued by SEC Chairperson Paul Atkins since taking office in April. Since taking office, Atkins has revoked the previous government's SAB 121 guidance requiring banks to count custodial crypto assets as liabilities, and held the first cryptocurrency regulatory roundtable in March.
