"We clearly got the green light from the United States," an Israeli official claimed. The goal, they said, was to convince Iran that there was no imminent attack and to ensure that Iranians on Israel's target list did not move to new locations. Even so, Mr. Netanyahu's aides revealed that Mr. Trump tried to prevent an Israeli attack in a phone call on Monday that was actually about coordination before the attack. The Americans have not confirmed any of these claims.
