A key GOP negotiator said GOP senators are considering capping state and local tax (SALT) credits at $30,000 as a compromise between the current law and the more generous limits in the House version of Trump's tax code.
Senator Tom Tillis, a moderate Republican involved in the negotiations, said Republican senators are trying to lower the House-passed $40,000 SALT cap to at least $30,000.
