Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive who was kidnapped and illegally imprisoned in Nigeria, has announced his departure. He joined Binance in 2021, having assembled and managed a 100-person global investigative team of former prosecutors and federal agents, handling thousands of requests from law enforcement agencies. Gambaryan was detained by the local government in 2024 over Binance's compliance issues in Nigeria, and was eventually released without conviction this year under pressure from the United States. In his departure statement, he said he would continue to work on building bridges between technology, law enforcement and compliance.
