Amazon announced Wednesday that it will invest $10 billion to build a new data center in North Carolina as part of its efforts to expand its artificial intelligence and cloud computing infrastructure.
The company said in a statement that it expects the investment to solidify new compute-intensive workloads and help expand Amazon's ability to support businesses built with artificial intelligence.
Josh Stein, North Carolina governor, said: "Amazon's investment is one of the largest in the state's history and will bring hundreds of good-paying jobs and economic development to Richmond County."
