Coinbase data breach linked to outsourced employees in India
2025-06-03 04:45:11
According to Reuters, sources have revealed that Coinbase was aware of the breach of its customer data at the outsourcing company as early as January 2025. Part of the reason for the leak involved employees of the US outsourcing company TaskUs in India, and one employee was found to have used a personal mobile phone to film data on a work computer. The employee and his suspected associates were accused of accepting bribes to provide Coinbase customer information to hackers. TaskUs quickly fired more than 200 employees after the incident. Coinbase has terminated cooperation with the TaskUs employees involved and other overseas agents, and has tightened controls.
