On June 1st, everstake posted that EIP-7917 will be officially scheduled to be implemented in the Fusaka hard fork, along with seven other EIPs, which will debut in the fusaka-devnet-1 version released on June 9th. EIP-7917 is a proposal to improve the Ethereum consensus mechanism, which makes the arrangement of block proponents completely certain, which means we can know in advance who each block proponent is.
Currently, the schedules of proponents are somewhat unpredictable. In EIP-7917, at the beginning of each block, Ethereum creates a list called proposal_lookahead showing which validators will be proponents for the current and upcoming block headers. When a new block starts, the list is updated by removing the old proponents and adding new proponents. This list is stored on the chain, so smart contracts can view the next proponents, thus improving confirmation speed and reliability.
