According to on-chain security analyst PeckShield, there were about 20 major cryptocurrency security incidents in May 2025, resulting in a total loss of $244.10 million, a decrease of 39.29% from the previous month.
Among them, the Cetus protocol suffered a loss of 220 million US dollars, which was the largest incident of the month. At present, the Cetus protocol and SUI have successfully frozen 157 million US dollars of stolen funds, and the remaining 63 million US dollars are still in the attacker's wallet. Other major incidents include the Cork protocol suffered a $12 million attack, a suspected North Korea-related hacking incident caused 5.20 million US dollars in losses, MBU tokens and MaplestoryU lost 2.20 million and 1.20 million US dollars respectively.
