Elon Musk is pushing lawmakers to help clear the way for driverless cars, according to people familiar with the matter, in one of his broader efforts to lobby for a key priority for Tesla (TSLA. O). In recent weeks, Musk and those who work for him have been calling lawmakers directly for support, and he has also been considering amending a bill introduced May 15 that would begin to establish a basic framework for autonomous cars. Options discussed include speeding up the passage of the bill or submitting a more detailed similar bill before Congress adjourns on July 4, one of the people said.
