The US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said on May 29 that Funnull Technology is linked to most cryptocurrency scam websites reported to the FBI, with victims losing more than $200 million.
According to OFAC, Funnull bought Internet Protocol Addresses in bulk from Cloud as a Service Provider and sold them to scammers, allowing them to host and operate clones of legitimate investment platforms, defrauding victims and stealing their cryptocurrencies.
OFAC said that in one case in 2024, Funnell purchased a codebase used by web developers and modified the code to redirect visitors to legitimate websites to scam sites and online gambling sites.
