On May 30, local time on Thursday, a federal appeals court suspended a panel of judges' ruling that forced the suspension of several tariffs imposed by Trump on international trading partners. "The judgments and permanent injunctions handed down by the International Trade Court in these cases will be temporarily suspended until further notice, while this court considers whether enforcement of the ruling should be suspended for a longer period," the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said in a brief ruling. The decision delays the lower court's ruling until at least June 9, when both sides will submit legal arguments on whether the case should be suspended while the appeals court weighs the issues in the case. In their ruling yesterday, judges at the US Court of International Trade found that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which Mr. Trump has cited in several of his executive orders, does not "give the president unlimited tariff authority".
