Trump responds to "TACO" deal, angering that Wall Street does not understand negotiation

Mr. Trump chafed at the narrative now swirling around Wall Street that he was ultimately unwilling to follow through on extreme tariff threats, saying his repeated backpedaling was part of a trade compromise strategy. "It's called negotiation," Mr. Trump said, as part of which he intentionally "set a ridiculously high number" and then "lowered it a little bit". At an Oval Office event, Mr. Trump was asked to respond to reports of the so-called "TACO" deal, known as Trump Always Chickens Out, in which investors buy into bargains after Mr. Trump's tariff threats, and stocks rebound when he finally softens his tone.
