Oliver Allen, analyst at Panson Macros, said that while there might not be much new in the Fed's upcoming monetary policy meeting notes for May, investors could gain much-needed key information on the time frame for policy adjustments that Fed officials are considering as they await further clarity on the direction of the economy. He pointed to divergent forecasts for the timing of the policy shift in recent Fed officials' speeches: New York Fed President Williams gave a range of "June or July", while Atlanta Fed President Bostic expected it to take "three to six months". In his report, he stressed: "The meeting notes may at least give some clues as to when FOMC (FOMC) members expect to have an adequate basis for decision-making."
