White House official: Trump administration doesn't want to hurt Apple with tariffs

Hassett, director of the White House National Economic Council, said on Tuesday that the Trump administration did not want to hurt Apple with tariffs. "Whoever you put a little tariff on right now, everyone is going to try to make it look like it's a disaster, trying to negotiate a lower tariff," Mr. Hassett said. "We won't know until the end what's going to happen, what's new, but we don't want to hurt Apple." Mr. Hassett's comments came after Mr. Trump said Apple would have to pay tariffs of 25 per cent or more on iPhone made outside the US.
