The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed a decision on whether to approve a proposed exchange-traded fund (ETF) tracking XRP and Dogecoin and requested public comment on 21Shares Core XRP Trust, Grayscale XRP Trust and Grayscale Dogecoin Trust. "Given the legal and policy issues raised by the proposed rule change, it is appropriate to initiate proceedings at this time," the SEC said in a filing. "Initiating proceedings does not imply that the Commission has reached a conclusion on any of the issues involved. Rather, the Commission expects and encourages interested parties to provide comments on the proposed rule change."
The SEC has also delayed a decision on whether to approve the Bitwise ETF's proposal to participate in staking. "The SEC will use up almost all of its time no matter who leads it," said James Seyffart, an analyst at Bloomberg. "The final deadline for almost all of these applications is in October, and it would be unusual to decide early," he noted.
