US Treasury secretary Scott Bescent said on Sunday that tariffs would soon return to "parity" levels if countries did not reach a trade deal within the 90-day suspension period. "President Trump has warned them that if they do not negotiate in good faith, tariffs will return to April 2 levels," Mr. Bescent said on the programme. Mr. Bescent said the US was focusing on finalising deals with 18 "important" trading partners, but did not specify how quickly tariffs would return to "parity".
