5月18日讯，当地时间18日，以色列国防部长卡茨在外交与防务委员会上表示，“虽然尚无官方确认，但根据所有迹象，巴勒斯坦伊斯兰抵抗运动（哈马斯）加沙地带军事部门领导人穆罕默德·辛瓦尔已经被打死。”哈马斯方面尚未证实上述消息。穆罕默德·辛瓦尔是已故哈马斯领导人叶海亚·辛瓦尔的弟弟。
