Morten Søberg, a former State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Finance, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Norwegian Central Bank, and head of public affairs at SpareBank 1, will become Secretary General of the newly established Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) in August 2025. The body aims to oppose the bitcoin ban, promote open legislation, and raise public awareness of bitcoin and the monetary system.
Currently, BPI has received around 1.517 BTC (about 1.60 million NOK) donations and has 121 paying members.
