Christy Goldsmith Romero, the Democratic commissioner of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has announced that she will step down on May 31, becoming the third commissioner to announce her resignation this week. "It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with my fellow commissioners," she said in a statement. She had previously said she would step down after Brian Quintenz, President Trump's nominee to chair the CFTC, was confirmed.
Goldsmith Romero's departure follows Republican Commissioner Caroline Pham, who also said on Thursday that she would step down following Quintenz's confirmation. Earlier this week, Republican Commissioner Summer Mersinger also announced that she would step down as CEO of the Blockchain Association on May 30.
