At the Consensus 2025 conference in Toronto, Eric Trump, son of US President Donald Trump, said: "I really believe bitcoin is digital gold... I believe it's a store of value." He noted that it was "when the same people who attacked my family also started attacking the crypto community" that he became connected to the crypto community. He added: "I also realised some of the limitations of real estate... real estate can't be transferred, it's very hard to sell... you need to constantly manage it." By contrast, "you suddenly have this digital asset, you don't need to look after it, you don't need to manage it, and it's easy to trade." Eric Trump is co-founder and chief strategy officer of American Bitcoin, a bitcoin mining company that plans to go public through a merger with Gryphon Digital Mining.
