US Democrats ask Treasury to provide information on Trump's crypto transactions, saying there is a risk of "bribery"

Leading Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to the Treasury Department on Wednesday asking its anti-money laundering watchdog to provide all Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) related to Trump's crypto projects. They allege that Trump and his team may have abused their office for the benefit of crypto businesses, particularly involving Trump's blockchain projects World Liberty Financial and $TRUMP Memecoin. The letter mentions that Democratic members are demanding an urgent investigation into World Liberty Financial, launched by Trump and his family in September 2024, and its related activities to assess whether there have been violations of campaign finance, bribery, and securities regulations. The move marks an escalation in congressional scrutiny of Trump's crypto businesses, and Senate Democrats also did not vote to advance stablecoin legislation last week because of Trump's crypto projects.
