Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that more and more foreign media, experts and scholars have spoken out recently, expressing concern and condemnation of Lai Qingde's "Taiwan independence" provocation. The current situation in the Taiwan Strait is complex and severe, and the root cause is that the Lai Qingde authorities refuse to recognize the "1992 Consensus" that embodies the one-China principle, and collude external forces to carry out "independence" provocations. Chen Binhua stressed that the Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affairs, and the resolution of the Taiwan issue is the responsibility of the Chinese people on both sides of the strait.
