U.S. stocks close: Three major stock indexes rise, cryptocurrency concept strengthens

U.S. stocks closed Thursday with the Dow initially up 0.6 percent, the S & P 500 up 0.58 percent and the Nasdaq up 1.07 percent. Cryptocurrency stocks led the market, with Canaan Technology (CAN. O) up nearly 9 percent, Robinhood (HOOD. O) up 8 percent and Strategy (MSTR. O) up more than 5 percent. Google A (GOOGL. O) rose nearly 2 percent and Tesla (TSLA. O) rose 3 percent. The Nasdaq China Gold Dragon closed up nearly 1 percent and Alibaba (BABA. N) rose 2 percent.
