The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued an explanation letter on Wednesday saying that national banks are allowed to buy and sell cryptoassets on behalf of their clients.
The regulator also pointed out that with proper risk management, national banks can outsource cryptocurrency custody and trade execution services to third parties, effectively giving them greater flexibility in dealing with cryptocurrencies.
