Republicans seek to pay for Trump's tax cuts by selling public lands

U.S. House Republicans have added a plan to raise billions of dollars by selling thousands of acres of federal land to pay for Trump's massive tax cuts, a politically charged idea that has been opposed by some in the party. The plan is in addition to a package of legislation approved by the House Natural Resources Committee early Wednesday that calls for the sale of dozens of parcels in Utah and Nevada totaling more than 11,000 acres (4,450 hectares) of federal land. In total, the committee's legislative package would raise more than $18 billion by increasing federal oil, gas and coal lease sales as well as lumber sales and other means. House Republicans aim to cut spending by $2 trillion while reducing taxes by $4.50 trillion. (Kim X)
