OpenAI plans to expand its $500 billion US data centre project Stargate by investing more overseas, although the group did not disclose details of how the project would be financed or implemented. "This investment will exceed our expectations in the US," said Chris Lehane, vice-president of global affairs at OpenAI.
Sam Altman, OpenAI's chief executive, launched the Stargate project at the White House in January, alongside US President Donald Trump, SoftBank chief Masayoshi Son and Oracle boss Larry Ellison. Mr. Trump hailed plans to spend $500 billion on US artificial intelligence infrastructure during his tenure as a "declaration of confidence in America". (Financial Times)
