On May 6, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed in a statement that they had carried out a wave of air strikes in Yemen and said it had destroyed the Houthi-controlled Sanaa International Airport. This was in response to numerous missile and drone attacks by the Houthis on Israel, including the attack on Ben Gurion airport last Sunday, which injured several people. The Israeli army said the airport in the Yemeni capital was now "completely paralyzed" after the airstrike by Israeli Air Force fighter jets. The Israeli army said the airport was used by the Houthis "to transport weapons and agents and is often used by the Houthi regime for terrorist purposes". In addition, the Israeli army said it attacked several power stations used by the Houthis near Sana'a, as well as a cement factory north of Sana'a, which the Houthis use to build infrastructure and tunnels.
