BlackRock's latest 13F filing for Quarter 1, 2025, shows a significant increase in its holdings of bitcoin-related assets. The report shows that the company invested a total of $5.43 billion in bitcoin spot ETFs and stocks related to bitcoin treasury and mining operations. This number is a significant increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, reflecting the growing confidence of institutions in cryptocurrencies.
Notably, BlackRock's flagship Bitcoin spot ETF, IBIT, increased its holdings from 2.60 million to 5.85 million, worth $273.90 million. BlackRock also opened a new position in Fidelity's FBTC for the first time, currently holding 70,971 shares, worth $5.10 million. It also established smaller positions in grey release's GBTC and GBTC Mini.
