Fidelity: Bitcoin Could Overtake Gold's Dominance Anytime

Jurrien Timmer, global head of macro at Fidelity Investments, analyzed the dynamics between bitcoin and gold, noting that bitcoin could overtake gold's dominance at any time. According to the change in the Sharpe ratio, which measures the risk-adjusted returns of the two assets, gold and bitcoin are negatively correlated with each other. Since bitcoin's Sharpe ratio is -0.40, compared to gold's 1.33, this means that bitcoin will lead the market next and will see the baton pass from gold to bitcoin. Jurrien Timmer suggested to investors that the starting portfolio is four gold to one bitcoin, as gold is only a quarter as volatile as bitcoin, even though they have similar Sharpe ratios.
