U.S. and Japanese officials agree to begin working-level consultations

The US Treasury issued a statement on Friday local time saying that top officials from the United States and Japan agreed to immediately start working-level consultations on the basis of current discussions and hold more ministerial meetings in the near future. The statement noted that US Treasury Secretary Vincent, US Commerce Secretary Lutnik, and US Trade Representative Greer met with Japanese Minister of Economic Regeneration Ryosho Akasawa on Thursday local time. The two sides had a frank and constructive discussion on fair and reciprocal trade. During the meeting, Bethan emphasized to Akasawa Ryosho the importance of tariff and non-tariff measures, economic security as national security, and other concerns. (Jin Ten)
