Aztec, the privacy-focused Layer-2 Rollup protocol, announced the launch of the testnet, which uses protocol-level encryption technology to allow users to store private data in encrypted form on the blockchain. The project team said they have been working on the product for more than 8 years, taking this cutting-edge technology further to the mainnet. Co-founder Zac Williamson said that unlike regular ZK Rollup, Aztec prioritizes privacy over scalability, and a single transaction requires more on-chain resources.
Previously, in 2022, Aztec Network completed a $100 million B round of financing, led by a16z.
