According to Cointelegraph, scammers are sending physical letters to Ledger hardware wallet users, posing as Ledger, asking for personal mnemonics in an attempt to gain control of the wallet. The letters use Ledger's logo, company address, and reference number to disguise their authenticity, claiming that users need a "critical security update" immediately.
Ledger officials have confirmed that this is a scam and reminded users that they will never ask for mnemonics in any way.
