On Tuesday, Walmart general merchandise (WMT. N), the world's largest retailer, rejected the idea of listing fees related to Trump's tariffs next to the list price of goods. The move comes after Amazon was poised to take such a step, prompting outrage from the White House and condemning it as a "hostile political act". An Amazon spokesperson later clarified that the Amazon-owned Haul affordable shopping site "considered the idea" but "it was never approved and will not happen." A Walmart spokesperson said "a breakdown of the cost of goods will not be listed on our site". The spokesperson said that despite the uncertainty surrounding Trump's aggressive tariffs, Walmart is "working hard to keep prices on as many products as possible to a minimum". Walmart's chief financial officer said earlier this month that more than two-thirds of the products sold in Walmart's US stores were "manufactured or assembled" in the US.
