Speaking at the third crypto roundtable, Paul Atkins, the SEC's new chairperson, said: "Today's roundtable discussion focused on the challenges SEC registrants face when trying to securely custody crypto assets for clients under federal security laws. Modifying custody rules to accommodate crypto assets under the Securities Exchange Act, the Investment Advisers Act, or the Investment Corporations Act is a special brokerage business. Is the so-called regime feasible for market participants, or is a new crypto asset broker-dealer framework needed?"
