According to Cointelegraph, the planning board of the city of Vilonia, Arkansas, has unanimously rejected a proposal to establish a cryptocurrency mining facility. Local residents are strongly opposed to the project, mainly concerned about noise pollution, energy consumption and environmental impact.
This is not the first time the city has rejected cryptocurrency mining projects. In 2023, the city of Vilonia rejected Vilo AR's mining facility application and permanently revoked its license. In the same year, residents also opposed Green Digital's proposal to build mining facilities near residential areas. In 2024, the Arkansas House of Representatives passed two bills restricting cryptocurrency mining.
