Helium, the DePIN project, has announced the signing of "a commercial agreement" with telecoms company AT & T to connect its community-built Wi-Fi networks to AT & T subscribers' networks. Mario Di Dio, managing director of Helium Networks, said AT & T subscribers would "automatically connect" to the Helium network when they are close to a hotspot. Hotspot device deployers will not receive payments directly from AT & T, but will continue to earn HNT tokens through a "usage-based rewards system". "AT & T's partnership with Helium highlights the real-world utility of cryptocurrencies," Di Dio said.
