According to Bitcoin.com, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has officially declared cryptocurrency mining an illegal activity. The announcement states that cryptocurrency mining violates several laws, including the Criminal Law Amendment Act No. 31 of 1970, while placing tremendous pressure on the country's power infrastructure.
The Ministry of Interior stressed that unauthorised mining activities lead to excessive consumption of electricity and increase the load on public networks, which may cause power outages and affect the supply of basic services in residential, commercial and industrial areas. The Ministry has acted in concert with a number of government entities, including the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, to require relevant entities to quickly adjust their compliance status, otherwise necessary measures will be taken in accordance with the law and violators will be handed over to the relevant investigation authorities.
