Musk and Bessant had a heated argument at the White House last week

According to AXIOS website, citing people familiar with the matter, Musk, the head of the US Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), and Treasury Secretary Bescent broke out in a heated argument over IRS personnel appointments in the West Wing corridor of the White House last Thursday. The noise made President Trump and other officials present look sideways. "Two billionaire, middle-aged men used the West Wing lobby of the White House as a WWE arena," one witness said. "They didn't do it in the Oval Office, but the president witnessed the confrontation firsthand. Then the two continued to argue in the corridor, and there was another fierce argument," one of the witnesses said. On Thursday, Mr. Bessant faced off with Mr. Musk at a White House meeting, after which, one source said, "F-shaped shells started flying [expletives flying]." Mr. Bessant criticised Mr. Musk for over-promising the DOGE's budget cuts, but did not deliver. Mr. Musk, in return, called Mr. Bessant an "agent of Soros" and accused him of running "a failed hedge fund". The two sides reportedly quarreled bitterly and at one point "chest to chest", ending with an aide stepping in to separate the two.
