Warren Buffett has now gobbled up almost 5% of the entire Treasury market, locking up $300.87 billion worth of short-term Treasuries through Berkshire Hathaway, according to figures released in the company's latest financial disclosures.
This large amount of government debt gives Buffett control of 4.89% of the entire US Treasury market. As of the end of March 2025, the total size of US Treasury bonds is 6.15 trillion US dollars, which means that for every $20 in the market, 1 US dollar belongs to him.
Buffett now holds even more Treasuries than the Federal Reserve, which currently holds just over $195 billion.
