On April 23rd, according to a person familiar with the matter, Intel (INTC. O) will announce plans to cut more than 20% of its workforce this week, aiming to cut the struggling chipmaker's bureaucratic hierarchy. The person said the move is to streamline management and rebuild the engineer-led corporate culture. It will be the first major restructuring since new CEO Chen Liwu took office last month. The layoffs come on the heels of a plan to cut about 15,000 people last year (the round of layoffs was announced in August last year). By the end of 2024, Intel's total workforce will be reduced from 124,800 in the previous year to 108,900. (Jin Ten)
