Law firm warns Metaplex to change unclaimed SOL treatment plan
2025-04-22 05:25:52
On April 22nd, according to Cointelegraph, law firm Burwick Law sent an open letter to Solana NFT platform Metaplex, warning that its plan to transfer unclaimed SOL tokens into the DAO vault could lead to litigation. Currently more than 54,000 SOLs (worth about $6.50 million) have not been claimed. Burwick advised Metaplex to suspend the plan and return 90% of the funds to NFT holders, keeping only 10% for network maintenance. Metaplex had planned to automatically transfer excess SOLs from NFT accounts that did not perform "adjustment optimization" to its DAO after the April 25th deadline. As of now, Metaplex has not responded to this warning.
