According to Decrypt, Miami-based crypto company Unicoin has been asked by the SEC to settle by April 18 for alleged securities registration and anti-fraud violations, but CEO Alex Konanykhin refused to compromise and said it would go through the courts. The SEC accused it of distributing the token UNIC by airdrop, falsely claiming that it was "asset-backed" and "SEC compliant", and allegedly reselling restricted securities without an exemption. Konanykhin called the allegations "a legacy of the former Gensler era" and plans to countersue the SEC for billions of dollars in losses.
