Molly Brooks, an analyst at TD Securities, said Mr. Trump was unlikely to fire Mr. Powell, a move that would trigger a lengthy legal battle. Since Mr. Powell's term ends in May 2026, it may not be worth trying to oust him now, which Mr. Brooks sees as a risk-reward factor. However, it must be acknowledged that the risk of Mr. Trump interfering with the Fed is another concern on Wall Street, where markets are very nervous.
