Analysts at Evercore ISI pointed to a "surge in stagflationary trading" if the Trump administration tried to fire Fed chairperson Jerome Powell, but said such a move was "less likely". It said volatility in bond and currency markets had shown a decline in confidence in Mr. Trump's economic policies, but there was no sign of a loss of confidence in the Fed, with measures of expected inflation remaining low.
