On April 17, according to foreign media reports, the US Customs and Border Protection (CPB) data on the revenue generated by the recent series of tariffs appears to contradict President Trump's remarks. The CPB said, "Since April 5, CBP has collected more than $500 million based on reciprocal tariffs, and the total tariff revenue collected under 15 presidential trade actions since January 20 exceeds $21 billion." The US financial system once experienced a 10-hour glitch that prevented US importers from entering a code that would have exempted goods shipped by sea from higher tariffs. "Even during the brief glitch, tariff revenue averaging $250 million per day remained uninterrupted," CBP said. However, Trump has repeatedly said that the United States is getting $2 billion a day from the tariffs.
