Vitalik: The rise of AI makes encrypted privacy "impossible to ignore anymore"

"Today, privacy can no longer be ignored," says Vitalik Buterin, founder of Ethereum, in a new blog post. "AI has vastly increased the capacity for centralised data collection and analysis, and the scope of data we share voluntarily." He stresses that zero-knowledge proofs (ZK), full homomorphic encryption (FHE) and obfuscation technologies are "way beyond the imagination of the '90s cypherpunks". He warns: "The most pressing risk is that privacy will be near an all-time low, and this imbalance will allow the most powerful individuals and states to access everyone's data while everyone else knows almost nothing."
