On April 10, 2025, the US government announced that it would impose "reciprocal tariffs" on Chinese imports to the US at a further rate of 125%. The US has imposed unusually high tariffs on China, which seriously violates international economic and trade rules and basic economic laws and common sense. It is a unilateral bullying and coercion. In accordance with the Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China, the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, and the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China and other laws and regulations and basic principles of international law, with the approval of the State Council, the measures to impose additional tariffs on imported goods originating in the United States will be adjusted from April 12, 2025. The relevant matters are as follows:
1. Adjust the tariff rate stipulated in the "Announcement of the Tariff Commission of the State Council on Adjusting the Measures to Impose Tariffs on Imported Goods Originating in the United States" (Announcement No. 5 [2025] of the Tariff Commission), from 84% to 125%. Since under the current tariff level, there is no possibility of market acceptance of US goods imported to China, if the US continues to impose tariffs on Chinese goods imported to the US in the future, China will ignore it.
II. Other matters shall be implemented in accordance with the "Announcement of the Tariff Commission of the State Council on Imposing Additional Tariffs on Imported Commodities Originating in the United States" (Announcement No. 4 of the Tariff Commission of 2025).
